Adopt, never buy

Rescue calendar

What is coming up for rescued animals in Buenos Aires, and the real way to help each shelter. Everything here links straight to the organizers and to the shelters' own pages, so you always give directly to them. Pásala never takes a cut and never lists animals.

Shelter by shelter, and how to donate

Each note below is what the shelter says on its own site. Amounts and options change, so the link always goes to their page rather than ours.

  • El Campito Refugio

    Gran Buenos Aires

One of the best known rescue shelters in the country, home to more than 400 dogs they call Camperitos.

Their donation page lists a bank transfer, sponsoring one animal every month, and volunteering on your own or with your workplace. They publish audited yearly accounts and say the money goes to food, medication, cleaning, vet care and neutering.

  • Refugio Don Torcuato

    Don Torcuato, Zona Norte

Hundreds of rescued dogs and cats, many of them left on the street as puppies.

You can set up a monthly direct debit, give once, or sponsor a specific animal. Their page also gives a PayPal option and the alias refugiodontorcuato, and shows what each amount covers, for example ARS 5,000 for a day of food for one dog and ARS 50,000 for a month of vet care.

  • Patitas de San Vicente

San Vicente, Provincia de Buenos Aires

A family run shelter with close to 250 rescued dogs, plus foster homes and outside cases they help support.

Their help page is short and personal: they ask you to write to them and they take it from there. patitasdesanvicente@gmail.com for donations and helping out, adopcionespatitasdesanvicente@gmail.com for adoptions.

  • PatitasBA

    CABA and Gran Buenos Aires

A searchable directory of dogs and cats waiting in shelters around the city, with a short quiz to help you think about what fits your home.

They do not keep animals themselves. Their help page points you to the shelters they work with and explains that those shelters run on volunteers who pay for food, vaccines and neutering out of their own pockets.

  • Animales BA · Gobierno de la Ciudad

    City of Buenos Aires

The city service hub: lost and found, adoptions, free spay and neuter appointments, and the public vet clinics. The 147 line is free.

This one is a public service, so there is nothing to donate. What helps is going to an adoption day, booking a free neutering appointment, or reporting a lost or found animal so it gets back home.
